Technology now a days is an important aspect of our daily lives. Technology is constantly improving its applications and the way we communicate with the rest of the world. It is almost impossible to believe what the technology has achieved. The best example for this is the fact that the man with the name of Neil Armstrong became the first human to step into the surface of the moon on July, 1969. An estimated of 500 million people worldwide watched this event, the largest television audience for a live broadcast at that time. It is incredible just to think what advances on technology can achieve. If all that happen in 1969, imagine the big change that technology has suffered until now 2014. Technology now a days is an important aspect of our daily lives. Technology is constantly improving its applications and the way we communicate with the rest of the world. It is almost impossible to believe what the technology has achieved. The best example for this is the fact that the man with the name of Neil Armstrong became the first human to step into the surface of the moon on July, 1969. An estimated of 500 million people worldwide watched this event, the largest television audience for a live broadcast at that time. It is incredible just to think what advances on technology can achieve. If all that happen in 1969, imagine the big change that technology has suffered until now 2014. Until today I personally am amazed. But technology is not only going to the moon ant building a car, technology is more than that, technology has many different applications we can use to succeed. But how to succeed using technology? Well that is a good question; the best way to succeed using technology is communication. Communication is not just calling a friend or texting with family, there is more than that communication can assist you in different ways such as social, educational, and professional.
First of all, social is one of the three different aspects of communication and is also important. The fact of meeting new people can not only be done by having the person in front of you and shake hands, today with a cell phone we can talk text or even chat with anyone. That is useful

Technological advances in society

Technology enables students and teachers to have a fast and easy way to acquire unlimited access to tons of information. With all of the useful technologies, the curriculum is bound to change in endless ways, creating more opportunity for learning.
It is very hard not to realize that technology has overpowered education in many ways. “Technology integration is similar to a tidal wave, growing silently in strength, then falling with an unstoppable roar upon those who paid no attention or showed little interest” (Guhlin, 40). Nowadays, computers are almost considered a necessity in the classroom, and are the main component of technology integration. Computers are being used in more numerous ways, besides only being used for basic word processing. With a simple computer, copious availabilities of technologies can be used in the classroom. “The one thing that is so great about the computer is that it does give a lot of instruction--and you don't need to have hearing to take advantage of it” (Anderson, 12). It’s amazing how one simple screen can provide everlasting opportunity for learning.

One of the most widely used technologies is the Internet, or also known as the World Wide Web. “In August 1981 about 200 computers hosted Web servers. By July 1998 there were over 36 million Web servers, that are hosts to approximately 150 million people” (Strauss). The Internet proves to be very beneficial to education, since students have unlimited access to millions of websites with tons of information. There are only so many newspapers, journals and magazines that you can find in libraries or subscribe to. Therefore, the Internet offers an unlimited pile of information that students can always have. Moreover, students are enriched with the most current information in any subject, along with regular updates. Students are able to use the Internet anytime of day, as long as they have a computer at hand. The research process will not have to end when the school day is over (Wissick, 82).

Along with using the World Wide Web for researching purposes, e-mail has become a very commonly used feature. Students and teachers can communicate outside of the classroom any time of day. In addition, this also opens up the idea of an online community center.

Students would be able to communicate with other students in the classroom, as well as students from around the world.

Just as the Internet and e-mailing are on the rise in the classroom, so are various other new technologies. Software and multimedia activities are one example. New CD-ROMS are being invented everyday, along with other programs to help serve educational purposes. Multimedia presentations provide students with great visual and audio images as well. Calvert describes as follows: “It's the difference between looking at a picture of a heart in a textbook, and looking at a beating heart and being able to slow it down and analyze it to see exactly how it works, step by step” (47). Furthermore, video conferencing and online courses are becoming increasingly popular technologies.
Both of the above allows students to learn online and to interact with one another through the use of technology.

Integrating technology provides the student with endless possibilities

It is obvious that technology has helped students master the traditional basic skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic. However, it has also created new skills as well--those related to the use of technology itself. Students can gather data, take virtual field trips, learn about current events, or look up information on certain projects, research topics, and current events, just to name a few. “In the 21st century, 60 percent of all jobs in the nation will require skills in computer and network use” (Guhlin, 41). This means that any student who is not computer literate will be at a slight disadvantage. Technology will help give students research skills and help them to acquire problem-solving skills as well. Students will benefit from technology integration by learning the necessary skills, but also they will be prepared for their future, in terms of employment.

Along with skills, the use of technology in the classroom improves students' motivation and attitudes about themselves and about learning. It has been studied that students tend to be more challenged, engaged, and more independent when using technology. “By encouraging experimentation and exploration of new frontiers of knowledge on their own through the use of technology, students gain a greater sense of responsibility for their work--producing higher-quality assignments that reflect the increased depth and breadth of their knowledge and talent” (Lowther & Morrison, 56). Another intriguing view is that technology can often energize students, since most of the time they are excited to know how to use the computers or other technologies.

Technology integration will benefit teachers greatly

The teachers are the only people responsible in making sure to incorporate technology into the classroom. “Teachers face understandable challenges while trying to connect students to the increasing complex subjects that must be mastered to be successful in today’s world” (Guhlin 40). By using technology in the classroom, many more teaching methods/instruction will be implemented. Instead of teaching out of textbooks every day, teachers now have numerous technologies to use as an extremely effective source for new lesson plans. More complex information and materials can be integrated into a challenging curriculum, since the instruction is not only limited to the teacher’s general knowledge. These complex materials and information offer different varieties of learning on a day-to-day basis, which helps to eliminate students’ boredom. In addition, more interaction and hands-on experiences will definitely keep the students excited and more interested in learning. Another plus is that technology is able to increase individualized student work, since the technologies can “teach” the students as well. This gives the teachers more time to concentrate on their students. Hansen and Weisbrod summed up the importance of teachers very well by saying, “The teacher has a key role in the introduction of technology into the classroom and in its successful adoption and application” (6293).

Many changes are brought about

Aside from only helping students and teachers, the issue of technology will bring much change to the primary educational system, in general. “Restructuring with technology involves a shift to learner-centered instruction, cooperative learning opportunities for students and collaborative efforts for teachers, and a de-emphasis on the traditional school/class time constraints” (Askling, 48). More computers will be put into each classroom, as well as other high-tech. Equipment. “To increase the integration of technology into the classroom, the existing school infrastructure must be changed dramatically” (Hansen & Weisbrod, 6296). Technology integration is not a simple terminating process; instead it will rapidly continue to transform education in endless ways, as time progresses.

Schools will have to train teachers in the technological field, and possibly hire many new instructors. “Technology should be another great tool in the toolbox of a broadly competent teacher” (McLester 4). Teachers are now encouraged to be knowledgeable in the technological field, and the future-employed teachers will almost be required to have those skills in order to get jobs. This creates more similarities between one another, offering a sense of unity amongst school authorities. Moreover, since there are many opportunities for more interaction and communication with one another through technology, it also creates a community-like atmosphere for students as well.

Conclusion

The future looks very promising It truly is impossible for anyone to deny the tremendous effect technological growth has had on our society. “The explosion of new technologies has changed the way we live from the way we do business to the way we communicate with each other. Therefore, obviously, technological advancements are also affecting the way we teach and learn” (McLester, 4). Society must take advantage of all the emerging technologies so its children can have a brighter future. Accordingly, society also should continue research and development efforts to better improve integration in the classroom. “To remain competitive in the 21st century, we cannot afford to miss any benefits technology might afford us” (Strauss). Technology is only going to get better and better as each day progresses and with the appropriate efforts, integrating it into the classroom will enhance education forever.

This article stressed the significance of teachers’ roles in helping their students learn and use technology. McLester said they have to carry a very important role in helping students acquire technological skills.
